The Trash Diary

Operating Online

We've allowed the internet in. Lets see if that was a mistake. Luckily there isnt much here just yet to comment on or about, or even interact with short of reading this dribble. And i guess the new Projects page kinda goes over stuff i've been doing, it'll expand with time as well.

Plans for the week include trying to make it until game time friday night without eating my own hands off. Being on call is one of the most aggrivating thigns about being in a support role for a number of companies in the area where we live. It wouldnt be as annoying if the issues i got paged after hours on were actually emergencies and not things that could certainly wait until tomorrow. But they come in, and i work them, because thats what im supposed to do.

Plans for the future, plans for the future. Mostly i want to try and stream more often, even if its only an hour or so at a time, just something. I got to do it last week, and that was honestly the best hour i've had in months. People came out to listen and i didnt have to jam alone, which is certainly an improvement. Probably going to go in a different direction with whatever it is that i end up streaming, the records are here to stay, and probably VHS, but the rest? I dont know. I liked doing games as a group, but the coordination and tryign to keep the party rolling int he right direction is hard on my brains, and the drunker i get the less i'm able to do that. "So drink less" you might think, sure sure, that makes sense, but its not like i drink more than a white claw or two, and then i lose control. Its one of the reasons i kinda stopped doing the game nights, i just couldnt handle it any more. It was too much, and i felt like i just made a major ass of myself every weekend. Fun times though, really. Loved all of it and miss playing with those guys a lot.

We will be working on some interesting things here soon i hope. Roska is pretty much where she needs to be for what she does (right now she really just acts like my work radio that i can talk to) and the other weird little side projects have all sort of worked themselves out. Maybe I'll get into explaining how to get something like our RoskaVision/PouTube thing working, but i have to think about that one a little. It's easily replicatable if you have a setup similar to mine, and i dont really want to fudge around with adapting it to other people's setups. But if you can figure it out, its really simple and just a stack of tools.

Coming up next? Not sure yet. Probably fleshing out the site a little more. Use the contact address in the footer for any suggestions/requests.

Catching up

Filling this site out is turning out to be slightly more interesting than I initially expected. the biggest part of it is, yeah i made it, sure it works, but what the heck do I actually want to say? We've got a couple of things that might be kind of interesting, so maybe we'll get some tech specs in here someplace. If that makes any sense to do anyway. There are a couple of projects im working on, and a couple that have kinda stagnated.

Right now I'm working on digitizing all of my grandparents' photo albums. I've got about 2500 images scanned through already, which is comprised of the albums ive got with me, but we'll need to trade those out for new ones soon, as i've scanned everything ive got. There are definitely a lot more to do, but with them being in Kansas and me not trusting any carrier to take these back or bring me the new ones, we'll have to drive down, which is a 14 hour drive. Long weekends maybe, holidays maybe, we havent figured out when the next time to go down is yet.

Think there may also be a good place on the sites main page for things like my recently played records, or my favourites of the week, or maybe something like that. I dont collect tapes or vinyl as much as i used to, so a weekly update with what ive found recently probably wouldnt be terribly interesting, but then again maybe it would do. I've been wanting to go through some things and document them out, where i found a record or what places i want to go and check out, or havent been to in a while. I'm sure there are better ways to track that, but at least here i can say what i want about them.

Second entry

So far we've got a links page, about me, home, and a blog. Thats a good enough start for dusting things off that i havent thought about in easily 20 years. The reason i wanted to get something like this going was to have some kind of hand in sharing somethign with the internet, not just downloading and reading. I want to contribute, and not to a forum, or a social media page. I know I have those linked, but I never really use them at all. the twitch more than anything, and only to play records for my friends.

Some of the things id really like to work on with this site: displaying images, setting up an rss feed, and documenting some of the things i work on for fun. There are some fo the projects that i've done that i think would be handy for other people to have access to the how-tos for. They cant use my instances, but they can set up their own, and i think that makes it a little more fun. That and a lot of them are to hyper-specific to me there would definitely need to be some modifications for anything to be applicable for anyone else. Maybe I'll also write down what i think about anime that i start watching here....maybe. I dont really review thigns and i dont wanna be on letterboxed or anything like that. Im a little anti-social, but not enough that i dont want to share some things.

Ya know, as annoying as it is to have to do this in a notepad, i kinda like it. Gives it a little more umph.

Up Next: RSS feeds probably, or my favourite records

We Are So Back

We've got things spun up locally now, we are going to do a little development and get this thing looking alright, then we'll loose it on the mainweb. I want to interface with some indieweb people and get somethign worth sharing put up on here.

Next up: putting together what the heck this site is going to be for.
